Center Burner Tube on Genesis 3000 lx

Almost complete with a 3000 Greenie Restoration... that being said I hit a snag and I cant figure this one out. The burner tubes on this are in good shape and I only needed to replace the cross tube. I bought the cross tube and I realized the center burner tube does not slide into the cross bar like the other burner kits I've bought. Looks like it attaches with a bolt or wing nut. ? has anyone seen this ?

Paul, the crossover tube slides through that hole. You can kinda see it here:

Actually, I think you may have the wrong crossover tube for those burners. On my Genesis 1000, the middle tube flat part goes into the slot under the crossover tube and the flat part sits horizontally in the slot. BUt your middle tube looks like a different model.

This is what your burner tubes should look like to fit that crossover tube.

You have the wrong crossover tube for the burner tubes unless you can get that burner to slide into the slot in the bracket below the crossover tube. No bolts or anything else needed.

This is the kind of tubes that you have. This is a Genesis 1000 also.

So basically you have the wrong crossover for the burners. They both fit Genesis 1000-5000 grills but are different styles. I think the burners you have are the old style which are in the grill pictured above. They are likely the original burners.

Thanks Bruce. Every burner tube I’ve seen is exactly what you’re showing in your pictures. almost done with the project and I never examined the center tube and it’s bizarre. I agree I think I’ll just get a new set of tubes and not mess around with it.

Ralph, I cannot tell you for sure. I have kind of wondered that myself, but I think the tube gets the same amount of fuel as the other two so I would suspect the actual heat output is similar to the one row of holes on the other kind. I have never did any kind of testing or comparing the two styles to find out for sure.

Weber has gone through 2 maybe 3 variations of attachment of the Xover burner to the center one. As for any difference in heat between the dual side ported center and the top ported single row center there is no difference in output or performance. On your original post btw again with these goofy photo links I honestly have given up on them and just don't even bother anymore. They either A don't work or B necessitate "juggling" my browser to not lose my place on a thread. Please use Imagur and post the BBC forum share link so the photos appear right in the post as Bruce had done. It's easier than you think and makes it so some of us will actually look at them

It's not that they don't open it's the browser goes nuts when I do sometimes (depending on how they're linked) and then I have to go bouncing back to try and find where I was. So rather than bother even seeing if or how they will open or where I just don't bother any more trying. It may be just the way I have my browsers set up (very tight security) thanks to help from my sin in law who's business is internet/computer security. Maybe of I was more lax on security it would not be a bother but since getting a root kit a few years ago I keep my systems locked down like fort knox

Larry, every link in this forum opens a new browser window, whether a photo link, an Amazon product link, a link to another post, etc. That's just the way vBulletin behaves. I know photo links drive you crazy, but not everyone is going to embed photos in their posts. Get over it. :)

Member for three years and I’m not getting any closer to figuring that out, sorry.
I’m not worried about finding anyone else’s stuff but, I just don’t think I can offer photos worth the bandwidth. (hangs head in humility)
Maybe when you come to collect what I owe you Bruce, you can show me! Or if I make a trip your way...
