My favorite steak sauce is homemade and butter base. You can never go wrong with butter

INGREDIENTS

  • 8 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 small shallot, finely minced
  • 5 chives, finely minced
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2-3 tablespoons prepared horseradish (the fresh kind in refrigerated section)
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 3 teaspoons minced fresh thyme
  • pinch of cayenne pepper, to taste
  • salt and fresh cracked pepper, to taste

INSTRUCTIONS

Melt the butter and whisk all ingredients till well combined.
Let the sauce sit for 10 minutes and whisk again. This will allow the butter to cool and thicken just a little.
Serve with your favorite steak!
Store leftovers in the fridge and reheat in 15 second intervals, stirring often, until just melted when ready to reuse!

Just to be fair, that's a recipe I found about a couple years ago (google) I had a less than stellar Flat Iron at the Lazy Dog in Concord, CA and I asked for some steak sauce and the waitress suggested their butter steak sauce, which I ended up liking considerably. I googled cloning the Lazy Dog butter steak sauce and didn't find anything out there however I found this and have used it off and on for nearly 2 years

If you really want to go crazy, make your own horseradish for the sauce

Ingredients
  1. 1 cup well-drained prepared horseradish
  2. ½ cup sour cream
  3. ½ cup mayonnaise
  4. 2 tablespoons fresh squeezed lemon juice
  5. 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  6. ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  7. 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  8. Few drops Tabasco sauce
