I think you're right Bruce. It wouldn't mean creating a hole which I am prepared to do if I decide to. I have an aluminum teardrop vent flange to cover the hole when the Smokai is removed. The hole would need to be 3/4 in.I think that would be ideal Josh. Is there a current hole already in the lower part of the cook box or would it entail creating that hole?

I'm still deciding if I want to drill a hole in that Vintage Grill. I may just hook the Smokai up to my six burner Summit Platinum for now. I would have plenty of smoking space in that grill. I bet I could regulate a very low temp in that Grill also. You are all set. Those step bits are awesome tools.
Larry that's exactly what we're talking about doing. What about the oven side? I'd think it would be more appropriate there. Especially if say you wanted to do a cowboy ribeye in a 2 stage cook. Oven side low and slow with the smoke device then onto the ripping hot grill side

I'm doing a low temperature test run nowActually Josh it won't affect low side as much (if at all) as once you start turning the dial down the main jet really doesn't have as much influence. Then the valve takes over
That's kind of why I was considering hooking up my smoke generator to my big six burner Summit Platinum. I bet if I ran one burner on low I could keep that temperatures pretty low and steady for smokingIt is pretty tough to keep a Genesis below 225.
