I never warmed up to this version, lifting/sliding the lid looks awkward, if it had a hinged lid it might be different YMMV.
 
I had a "Platypus" and actually liked it. The two side shelfs were very handy vs. a plain kettle. Even though the lid holder was a little wonky it was a lot more useful than hanging the lid on the side of the kettle, kinda wish I still had it at times.
 
I personally think it is a great setup. You get used to the slide back and the total size is manageable while allowing a wireless temperature device on one side and your food going on and off on the other. I have a black one and would love to get a brick red one as well.

I agree that the tables are very useful and yes much better than the hook in the lid for sure.
 
I have the same. It has the same working height as the Performer which I like. And the table space is cool. But it also has a few drawbacks. When you open it with the handle mounted up front your arm will always be exposed to the heat. On the performer with the lid handle on top of the lid your are always shielded from the heat. In addition I would not recommend using that lid for a pizze ring since the handle will sit right above the opening and get really hot. I am using a different lid when making pizza.
I also use it for Vortex grilling. It gets really hot and you have an equal heat distribution all around.
 
I used one one at a greinds house a few times the 2 selves are great the lid hoing straight back is nice. I alw a ys wanted one
