Perfect, that's what I would do then. Of course I would still probably repaint the good ones to really make them nice again as well as the cook box and maybe the frame if it can't be shined up.Fortunately, I have undamaged end caps from my dented SS lid I can swap out. Use the best from each grill.

Absolutely, when the Black Gold gets here from CO. My old Silver C is just going to be a donor. It’s not worth saving. I promised you some pictures of its condition. I’ll try to remember sending them tomorrow.Perfect, that's what I would do then. The Golds are just so much better looking than the Silvers are anyway. Stripping them down for good parts is always a smart thing to do. You can even reassemble a grill made of all the second best parts and sell it for $50 bucks if you have enough parts to do it.Absolutely, when the Black Gold gets here from CO. That's a no go, they aren't compatible unless you want to dive into cutting a frame apart and welding. Can I swap the cook box from a x000 into a Gold frame with a Gold lid? If so would it also require a manifold swap?
That’s a hard no.That's a no go, they aren't compatible unless you want to dive into cutting a frame apart and welding.
It is for me too, and probably not worth the effort as the difference in the way both cook is hardly noticeable if we're being honest about it.That’s a hard no.
You missed out on having a Genesis 1000-5000 by just one year then. I cooked on my own Genesis 1000 for 27 years before I came across this nice Genesis Gold C that was just too nice to resell so I kept it. The adjustment to it was pretty minimal and in some ways an improvement in my opinion. The differences between a Silver C and a Gold C are mostly cosmetic as I'm sure you know. I will always advise to just use the nicest parts you can to make your own personal grill wherever they come from. I was able to move on from my Genesis 1000, but it did take me several years of restoring much nicer grills than what I was using before I could do it. I finally realized it was insane for me not to have and use the nicest possible grill I could while I was selling nicer ones to complete strangers.I’ve never cooked on an x000. 99.99% of my grilling since 2000 has been on my Silver C. I’m gonna miss the ol’ gal. Will have to use part of her on my Gold project so she will live on in a small way.

Yes, I received the black Jr from AZ and the black Jr from EBay. Both are awaiting reassembly. My nephew has my red Jr from NM at his place in Lubbock and he’ll pick up the Storage Queen Black Platinum 1000 in NM on Saturday, both to be delivered to me March 12. My buddy in CO is holding a red Jr, my not quite maroon “Aggie” 1000, a NG green 1000 and will be picking up the Black Gold C for me Feb 11-13. The CO grills probably won’t make it to TX until summer. I’m enjoying the hunt and looking forward to actually getting my hands dirty soon.So have you received any of your out of state purchases yet? I remember you bought a couple of Jr's I think?
As long as you can keep track of all the logistics you got going on there. In any case, looking forward to seeing a build from you in the near future.Yes, I received the black Jr from AZ and the black Jr from EBay. Both are awaiting reassembly. I totally agree Josh. The problem is that, if left unchecked, it leads to an ever increasing coral of grills that stretches the ability to get them rehabbed.
I totally understand Bruce. We can't go around picking up every good deal or we'll be living in the junk yards and we obviously can't keep them all either once they're finished. That's a good part of why I quit doing flips because they were getting in the way of my keepers but I could see that working in reverse too if flips is what you're focused on.I totally agree Josh.
