Has anyone tried using Splenda as a sugar substitute in a BBQ sauce? Actually, now that I look at their Web site, I see that they have a recipe for BBQ sauce.
You can subtsitute apple cider vinegar for the lemon juice, and play around with the other ingredients for your personal taste. Add Splenda to sweeten for pork, or leave as-is for beef.
Maybe you could focus on dry rubs that don't have sugar like the Texas sugarless sprinkle. Rubs that give you the flavor of BBQ ithout the sauce and then use foiling to be extra careful to retain moisture? Just a thought.
