Apple, birch, or white oak to smoke bacon

I'm thinking of doing my next batch using one of those light smoke woods listed above. Should I use way more of that smoke wood than hickory?

I happen to be one of those guys that thinks pork cries out for hickory. LOL But it's also easy to use too much hickory. The majority of my smokes are with 2 chunks of hickory, 2 chunks of apple and 1 chunk of cherry. Cherry gives a great color to
the meat, but it can make it dark if too much is used. A wood that is a little lighter than hickory which I also like is pecan.

I live in pecan country with pecan and hickory and oak trees all around me and send pecan wood off to Maine, Vermont and NH. If smoked at too low a temperature, pecan can taste really bitter.
