Anova Sous Vide review

I just purchased the same $148 Anova Sous Vide device and what frustrates me is that even with wi-fi it can only be paired to one device at a time. I don't know about anyone else but I love the fact that my Searwood is available on both my phone and tablet as well as the other half's devices for no other reason than I don't have to answer, "Honey, when will dinner be ready?". If it only paired via bluetooth I'd understand, but since you are forced to connect it to an account there is no reason you can't have push notifications sent to everyone that has access to the account.

Hi Brian,
After a bunch of cooks mine has become one of my favorite cooking tools and I don’t use the wi-fi option.

I have made my best corned beef, pastrami, roast beef and carrot cooks with this tool.

I found that (for me) there was really no need to be overly aware of when the time was done.
It’s not like it’s able to tell me the food temperature during the cook while in a wet bag immersed in hot water so why bother?

This is a different type of cooking for me, in that it is very forgiving.
To make it stupid simple for me most of my cooks are based on 24, 36 or 48 hour time increments.
My carrot and chicken cooks are about 2 hours.
I don’t recall doing any 8, 10 or 12 hour cooks yet but they will also fall into the KISS category.

For me, this is a $150. tool that does a great job.
I find that it’s not worth the stress to trip on it’s short comings or crappy policies.

I have some OCD issues so, one thing I that I do is that I keep my Performer’s timer next to it so that if the cord gets unplugged or if there is a power failure I have a redundant timer that I can stare at 😊.

I say give it a few weeks and it will probably grow on you like mine did with me.
Good luck to ya 👍.
