16 lbs of pork butt on my little Smokey mountain smoker

I loaded my small WSM with 16 lbs of pork butt rubbed with the world class armadillo Willy rub, despite the forecast for rain. Fuel is a mix of standard kings ford and cowboy limo with some apple wood chunks. Meat went on at 4:45 pm today, and I’m already dreaming about supper tomorrow. Because of the rain in the forecast, I added my proprietary rain shield over the top vent, a modification I did to my standard size WSM many years ago. These should be done around noon tomorrow, giving them some resting time before supper. Happy smoke day!

The meat looks like a piece from a dinosaur on your small WSM.
Looks good!
Love the rain shield, too.

the plate over the vent is clever, but to avoid rain inside the WSM, you'll need an umbrella!
Hope the butt cook was a success!
