How old is your WSM?

Where can I find the stainless top and bottom grates? Also, is the coal grate the same size as the newer models?
18.5" stainless steel cooking grates are getting hard to find. Here's one source for the top grate:

I'm not aware of a stainless steel version of the bottom grate at this time. Even the standard version is expensive because of its unusual size. Here's a link for one source:

And yes, the charcoal grate remains the same in new or old WSM versions.

If you decide to go with standard cooking grates, it wouldn't be totally crazy to order all three pieces from Weber direct at 800-446-1071, they'll ship all by FedEx Ground for a flat fee of $7.

I just picked up a 18.5” that was made in 1981 according to the guy that sold it to me. It isn’t exactly pretty, but it smokes! He replaced the lower cooking grate with a kettle charcoal grate and has another grate sitting on top of the WSM charcoal grate for reinforcement. He patched a small hole in the water pan with JB weld. The top cooking grate is original, but on its last leg.

Mine is a 1995. I've been Q'ing on my Performer with a Smoke EZ attachment for years but restored my old WSM this week. Can't wait to start cooking on it again!

I'm sure that Adam is in the running for the oldest. I got my first on in 2011 so it's barely broken in.

Oops, wrong Weber. WSM is from 2005.

OK - old thread but ...

My 22.5" WSM is 2012 and my 18.5" is 2005.

A C code would be a dream ... but hard to realize here in Germany.
