They may have lubricated the throttle control as a matter-of-course (without mentioning it) and the filter just happened to be too dirty is WHY they mentioned it.

FWIW, I have NEVER cleaned that filter (15 yr running it now) and the only issue I've had is that throttle control at the engine end.

I put know-it-alls and grumps on my ignore list, works well for me.

My apologies Chris, I lost my temper after getting dragged down a rabbit hole. I started this thread to ask people from Cali about their lawn mowers, not to get a lecture and screamed at on how how I neglect maintenance on my equipment, when I don't neglect maintenance on my equipment.
