Remote access Heater Meter with Comcast Gateway

I have scoured the web and the forum on how to setup my Heater Meter for remote access with Comcast

I set the Heater Meter up with a fixed IP and I set up the port forwarding however, I can't figure out with the Comcast Gateway what to do next (the Gateway is from Comcast and it's both a modem and router)

Since I cannot post an image here is a link to see the Comcast Gateway www.xfinitywi-filogin.com/xfinity-login/port-forwarding-on-the-xfinity-wireless-gateway/.

I called Comcast and spent over an hour with them and in typical Comcast fashion they had no idea what I was talking about and said that remote access is not allowed. Which makes no sense because then the video doorbell would never work. Then they tried to sell me on adding more channels

Anyway any help is is appreciated

Your video doorbell works because it establishes a connection with a server somewhere else and when you want to view your doorbell, you also connect to the external server and view the doorbell. The HM doesn't do this, so you need to directly access it by getting into your home network from the outside.

What external port are you using on the port forward? 80 or another port?

I assume you're trying to browse to http://your.external.ip.address/ while not connected to your home wifi?

Hi Steve- that is correct, I want to be able to access my Heater Meter while not on home Wifi

As for the external port froward I used 80.

However, I do not know what to do next with the Comcast Gateway

Thanks in advance

If you have the port forwarding enabled, you should be ready to test. While on your home wifi go to https://ifconfig.io/ and record your IP.

Now disable disable wifi on your phone and see if you can get to http://<your-ip>

Also depends if your routers outside ip address is fixed or not. Some providers change them frequently. Fortunately my ATT uverse does not....to log in to heater meter i click saved bookmark that goes to http://XX.XX.141.240:8080/luci if your ip changes, you have to use ddns

You generally cant access you router externally, from behind it. So you must turn wifi off on phone and use cellular connection at home to use that port, or use a vpn so you access it from a different server (what i do).

I did that going to if config

Here is my IP: 2601:981:c200:e1a0:68aa:b457:9259:e230

When I disable wifi on my phone and try to go to that address I get "your search didn't match any documents

I even tried going to, the Heater Meter IP which is 10.0.0.147 via my phone (with wifi turned off) and I get could not connect to the server

Even if I try: http://10.0.0.147:8080/luci

I just do not know what to do - any ideas?

Id recommend not forwarding to port 80. That could be blocked by your cable provider. I have optimum and they definitely block it so I use port 8000 which is not

Hi guys - my IP address is: 174.59.116.203

I deleted the port 80 and used 8000

What do I do next?

Thanks in advance

Now that I have your IP address, light your grill, put on a big beef brisket, and I'll see if I can use my smart phone to set your grill temperature to 600 degrees from down here in Alabama.
