Looking for Summit Platinum D6 Side Burner Gas Valve

Hello everyone,

Totally new to the forum here.

Title says it all
I own a 15 year old Summit Platinum D6 with the side burner. It has served me well and I have tried to take good care of it.
Even had top lid break off and replaced by Weber about 10 years ago. (I opened it when there was about 6 inches of snow on it and the lid just snapped off..doh!).

Anyway, to the point. The gas controller valve on the side burner is completely frozen. I took it off to try and repair it but the screws are frozen and stripped. I tried all the "remove stripped screws" techniques I could but none worked.

I called Weber and they no longer sell either the valve or the complete side burner assembly, so no luck there. No online grill companies have them for that model either. The lady at Weber gave me the part number for the side burner assembly (42768).

My one hope was maybe I could find the company that actually made the valve for Weber and buy it from them.
So, if any of you have ever replaced that particular valve or know of an alternate source for one , it would be very appreciated.

I can live without the burner but will miss it dearly as I use it often when I fry things to avoid smoke and fire in the kitchen.

Sorry this was so long winded.

Thanks for any help you may offer.

Shoot some PBlaster in it. It'll work fine. Then lube it with a bit of automatic trans fluid

I agree with LMichaels. I actually used carburetor cleaner to get these loose. It is normally just the valve stem being stuck. But if this does not work, you can try to find the valve used on the side burner of the Genesis Silver, Gold or Platinum C.
The part number for valve an hose for the Genesis: #42380

The Summit D6 uses the same part:

Meaning try to find a parts grill. The Genesis with side burner can be found much more often than the Summit. It sound crazy to look for a whole grill but sometimes they are just cheap. Unfortunately I don't have a spare parts burner I could salvage. Maybe someone else here has one.

Well, if those side burners from the silver/gold C grills will fit yours, just watch for them on CL and FB MP to show up. My guess is that you will find one sooner or later that you can cannibalize the burner on for under $50.

Check Facebook Marketplace as well. If you are in a populated area, you can try Offerup.com and Letgo.com as well.

I just checked Craigslist in Seattle and these showed up:
Weber Genesis:

Summit D4 for $50. This might be the perfect donor grill. You might be able to salvage other parts for your D6:

FB market place. Genesis Silver C for $40:

I have done 3hr round trips to pickup grills or grill part... ;-)
