A sensitive subject

I made some cheese fries for lunch in the air fryer today, I added 1/4 of a minced jalapeno to the top when I topped them with cheese.

I'm pretty tolerant of hot peppers, sometimes I get a burning sensation somewhere I don't remember having touched, but this time....... the pain was intense. I tried washing with cool water a few times but as soon as the cool water was gone the severe pain returned. I tried ignoring it but that wasn't happening.

I had some pain relieving lotion someone gave me a few years ago - nothing. Then I hit the burn with some chloriseptic (sore throat spray) and voila!

Cool!

I usually try to wash with hot water, in an effort to dissolve the oil.

I wash my hands before AND after using the "facilities" after these three activities..
Eating hot wings
Handling batteries
Handling any sort of hot peppers
I've even been known to use nitril gloves when handling/chopping habaneros!

Well, the throat spray numbs things. But yea, gloves are mandatory when dealing with hoy stuff, even eating. One wipe on the eyes not thinking can be a serious thing. So try to make gloves a mandatory practice.
