I keep multiple dried peppers on hand for a flavorful base of my homemade rubs....don't forget to give the peppers a light toast to awaken the flavor before grinding in a coffee bean grinder.
Here you go:

4 T dried mixed peppers (about 3 whole peppers-ancho, guajillo & mulato)
2 T salt
4 t black pepper
3 t sugar
2 t granulated garlic
3 t onion powder
2 t cumin
1/2 t celery
1/2 t fennel
1/2 t ginger

this is a delightful match for beef
