First cooker?

Hello Jamie,.

Thank you for taking your time to participate here.

My question is, what is the first barbecue / grill that you bought for yourself? And how did it influence future cookers and where you are today?

Hi Jason. Thanks. Your question took me back many years. I recall cooking on a classic Weber kettle when I was a little kid in New Jersey. After I graduated from college in California and started cooking a lot for myself, I bought a new kettle. That served me well through cooking school. After graduating from "the other" CIA, I cooked at a winery in Napa Valley where they had huge rolling grills with no lids. I could make a lot of food on those but learning to deal with the flare-ups and fluctuating temperatures when the wind picked up... that was an experience that made me appreciate my old kettle more and more. I can't imagine ever buying a grill without a lid. I've just come to really like how a lid allows me to control air flow.
