Questions about rotisserie on the WSM

I’m planning to get the Cajun Bandit rotisserie kit for the WSM 22.5. A few questions:

Is the only difference between these two offerings the heat resistant handle and $30?

I’ve heard one of the benefits of the Cajun Bandit is that it’s reversible. What does it mean to be reversible?

When using a rotisserie, will I be unable to use ambient and food temp probes during the cook?

Any recommendations on silicon cooking bands?

Looks to me that one is powered by batteries and the other by AC. Whether or not that impacts maximum weight, I don't know.

I don’t like the silicone bands, I’ve tried them and you can buy a heck of a lot of butcher twine for the cost. Learning how to truss takes a little longer but, once you learn the methodology it’s really kind of fun to tie something off and have it be so pretty.
You should be able to monitor ambient temperature without too much difficulty, if need be, put a magnet on the inside and put your probe on that (using the holder and not directly attached the magnet, of course).
I like a hard wired motor but, I can see the value in a battery one if one was inclined to take a spinner on camping excursions.
CaseT has shared some very interesting “wireless” cooks using a DC powered rotisserie!

I could be mistaken, but the "reversible" means that you can use it with either the WSM or with a regular Weber Kettle. The lip of a Kettle and a WSM are different. On the Kettle, the lip is rolled and the lid sits down over top of it. On the WSM, it's backwards. The lid has a rolled lip and sits down inside the flange of the center section.

The top of the Kettle roti is flat so that the lid of the kettle will rest on it. The bottom of the kettle roti is straight and sits inside the kettle. If you try to put a Kettle roti on a WSM, the bottom part of the roti will rest in the center section ok, but the lid of the WSM won't seal. It will just rest on top and can be knocked off with the slightest of touches. The best thing to do to use a kettle roti on a WSM is to use the lid off a kettle.

With the CB roti, you don't have to worry about any of that. It can be used on either a kettle or a WSM.

I see that as a HUGE advantage over the stock Weber design. I might need to get a CB for the 18! I have no problem being “over equipped” for food preparation!
