How do you come up with so many good ideas?

Hi Jamie, I am a big fan of your books, love them. We have had some really great meals, thanks to you. I have often wondered, how do you come up with so many good ideas?

Joan, first of all, thank you for taking an interest in my books. If it weren't for people like you, I'd have no real reason to write the books. The ideas come mostly from whatever I happen to be eating recently. Example: I go to a restaurant and have a cream of asparagus soup with toasted pine nuts. If I like it, I think about how to adapt those flavors for the grill. There is a recipe in Weber's Ultimate Grilling for Grilled Asparagus with Pine Nut Vinaigrette. It's actually one of my favorites from the book. I hope that answers your question. Thanks again.
