I have been using a Hunsaker Vortex Plate in my 18.5" WSM and love it. My bil was so impressed by it he bought a plate for his 22.5" WSM and a complete Vortex Basket/Plate setup for his ECB. The basket wouldn't fit, so I gave him the charcoal ring and Vortex Plate from my WSM (which fit perfectly) in exchange for the basket. Didn't really want the basket, just helping a friend. Now a question for those of you who bought the basket for your WSM:
I noticed that the basket with the plate sits higher in the WSM and much closer to the bottom cooking grate. Do you have any problems cooking on both grates with this setup or is it too hot for the bottom grate? If it is, I may have to buy another charcoal ring and charcoal grate. My bil is very happy and I wouldn't think of asking for my stuff back.
