Well the Phoenix genesis 2 is now in its new home in Prescott Valley after a five hour 272 mile round trip yesterday.
It is in amazing condition for a 34 year old grill. The chocolate lid is pristine no sun fade, glazing or scratches. The fire box will be an easy clean no built up gunk.
The burners, FBs and grates are believe it or not are original to the grill and in excellent condition. Even the Z brackets are perfect. Goes to show you being in a dry climate and kept out of the hot sun things will last a long time.
The only thing missing was the slide in grease catcher assembly. The guy modified a cookie sheet to replace it. That will be an issue because to get the part that slides into the grill and the bracket and grease catcher will cost me over $100.00, twice what I paid for the grill. The good part is the one from my genesis 2000 and the skyline fit perfectly.
If anyone has one that they could part with for a fair price + shipping I would really appreciate it. I will look for a donor grill, but here and Phoenix there are not many coming up anymore and those that do show up are usually are $100+
Really looking forward to restoring this little jewel.
