Salt block cooking

Saw this yesterday at Sur La Table. Found a couple old threads discussing this. Are people still using theirs and is it worth it? Or is it just a fad?
 
One thing we love to do with the salt block.

Strips of meat. Fish. Chicken. Shrimp. Scallop. Anything you grill.

Invite people over. Cook your own dinner! Thin sliced. Cooks quick.

We you use a baking tray and wire rack. Put salt block on top.

Friends that have never done this love it!
 
We've done it but I haven't figured out a way to make stuff taste better than what I'm already doing. Ed, are you putting the block directly on the grill or in the oven?
