Silver c bottom rack

I have just purchased a silver c (my first weber) I think it's 2004. It has a solid bottom rack that is rusted badly and needs to be replaced. My question is does Weber offer a wire rack to replace the solid rack? And also is this a Weber only part or possibly aftermarket?

I know of no aftermarket sources except that some sites sell Weber parts such as: https://www.grillparts.com/weber/silver_b.asp
I would call Weber C/S direct: 1-800-446-1071, but you will need your grill serial number available.

Your other option is to find one off of a donor grill, but that might be a bit difficult to find for a Silver C.

I called Weber and was told that there wasn't a n alternative to the solid metal rack for my grill.

LOL, there is...they probably don't know though. Some of us have used the Silver C wire rack in place of the solid metal rack as replacements.

I rehabbed an 05 Platinum C that had the solid metal rack but was badly rusted (cheap sheet metal on Weber's part) and made it into an open cart using the wire rack from the Silver C (WEB80009).

I can also confirm: The wire rack fits. The problem is that Weber personal goes by what grill you have and what their system lists as possible replacement parts.

I replaced the rusted floor on my Silver C with a DIY wood slat floor since I wanted to keep the closed cabinet. The original replacement floor from Weber would have been way to expensive and will rust again. The wood floor was cheap and allows for ventilation. And with the door closed you don't see the type of floor.

By the way according to ereplacement parts the wire rack has been discontinued:

And the bottom shelf is freaking expensive:

Yeah too bad. I have a lower wire rack I think from an old Genesis 1000 or maybe it was old enough to be a Genesis 1. Hanging in the garage.

Yup, unfortunately the wire rack may have been discontinued by Weber altogether and the replacement bottom shelf is not worth the $$$ IMO. Best bet is to probably get one off of a donor like Bruce said or fabricate one like Stefan did (and probably some other folks) or post that you're looking for one it in the Buy/Sell section of this forum also.

Thanks Pat but I don't think that will work for me. The one I need has "hooks" on the ends that hangs on the frame from side to side. The part I need is 60145.

I know it's different. I have the one with hooks on it on my Gold B. I might check and see if it fits on the Gold B or not.
