Question on grill lights for older Geneis with flat (not round) handlebar

I know there was handle bar with integrated lights for the older Weber Genesis series with the flat handle bar. Part number 9057.

Was this the only option or did Weber ever offer a light that could be mounted on the flat handlebar similar to the one for the round bar? Like this:

I can’t say for sure, but it may be the case that it is the only Weber option for the classic handle. You might find some other brand aftermarket solution, though.

I use one of these lights on my Genesis 1000. I tried one of those gooseneck flexible things but this is by far the better light. Until I got this, it was always a pain grilling in the winter as it get dark before 5pm around here. I have had one of these for almost two years now and it still works great and puts out plenty of light for my three burner.

These same lights are sold by a whole bunch of different resellers but they are all basically the exact same light minus a different logo or some minor exterior change. I would look for the best price. The clamp works fine on my wood handled Genny 1000.

Also, that #9057 light is not LED and it gets pretty poor reviews. I don't think it is even being produced any longer. If it could be converted to LED, it might make a really good light.

Bruce,

Yeah that is the kind of aftermarket fix I figured would be out there. Looks like it would work great.

As far as the #9057, I have lit it up at night but not cooked with it since that grill will NEVER apparently ever get done. (You can see in the picture that it does cast some decent light even at pre-dark twilight.) I actually used it more for the style of the handle, but even in Florida it is helpful in the winter.

If it turns out the light is lacking for grilling, I am going to see what options there are for replacing the bulbs with LED like you mention. First I need to finish sanding, staining and spar-urethaning my monster pile of slats:p!

p.s. I did abandon the Weber smoker box in favor of using something else and having the full set of rcplanebuyer flavorizers;).

I actually do have that light. I got it as a present some time ago. But so far I have not used since I have not figured out how to mount it. Yes it clamps to the handle but if the lid is open it has to be pointed down. If the lid then gets closed it is then pointing inwards to the firebox and getting too close to the firebox. How did you guys mount it?

Stefan see the link below. Scroll to the 5th pic. It basically just clamps on the handle. You adjust it so that when the lid is up its pointing / shining down on the grill grates. It's high enough when the lid is up that the heat isn't an issue. And it's also not an issue when the lid is down because it's out of the way at the front. Once in place and adjusted it works great and you only have to readjust it if you bump it.

I have 2 of these. One for each grill. I paid 25 bucks for one and much less for the other. Two different brands but they seem identical. So I agree with Bruce about the different brands being the same light.

My light sits within a quarter inch of the grill box when closed. I was worried at first too, but so far so good. You can simply push it down when closed to move it away from the box, but then you have to re-adjust it when you open the lid to get the beam back on the grill grates. Not always convenient, so I just figure, if it melts, which it hasn't, it is just $13. Well over a year now and many full temp cooks in that time.

I am hoping to find one of these on sale:

Not sure how often I will use it as I have a patio light that shines pretty good.

Yah, I had one of those...huge PIA. I still have it somewhere, but it isn't being used on any of my grills.

I also have the same light as Bruce on my Genesis 2000 and it woks fine and puts out a lot of light.
