Charcoal ring wired to grate

Just thought I'd mention it - the top tip to wire the charcoal ring to the grate is a winner tip. (Minion?)
Mine has just failed after c 15 years - got to make good!
Please don't ask me if it was stainless or galvanised wire - it was ages ago!
Seriously the best mod ever = do it!

I did mine with a piece of coat hanger, kind of a clip thing looped around the grate and the other end through the hole in the ring. It’s been two years and looks pretty solid.(I suppose it better be ok after just two years!)

Photo 5 has been referenced recently in other threads. IMO, it holds too much ash (the cross hatch) and chokes off the draft.

In my defence, I do it by hand (crush and pick, crush and pick). No dust floating through the air and in a way, it's therapeutic (I'm in a sheltered area by myself and it's very peaceful. I can take hours to do this little chore and no one complains :D ).
