Beercation! (Pic Heavy, Sorry!)

So, last week, our roving annual family vacation we refer to as beercation happened here in Charlotte! Family started showing up Friday the 6th and we put the last 2 on a plane last night! Dad and his wife stayed across the street at a neighbor and everyone else was either in our 1 other bedroom, on the couch or on air mattresses! Cozy, but we made it work!

Saturday the 7th was my mom's 84th birthday! Since there were only 5 extra people here, I cooked her some ribs! Seasoned with a maple chipotle rub that my niece send me from Maine, they went on the WSM about 2. The weren't cooking to my liking, so about 4:30, I foiled them for about 45 minutes. Out of the foil, and they were just about ready for sauce!

As usual, no plated pics!

The next day, my other sister got here, so we had a spatched chicken, along with the leftover ribs!
The chicken was seasoned with SPOG, then glazed with a honey mustard glaze Pammi found that's way more mustard than honey! :D

A rare plated pic!
Pammi made some quinoa with sautéed mushrooms and spinach and a green salad.
SOOOO good!

Monday, more people showed up! My dad and his wife drove down from NJ and my brother flew down from ME.
When I picked my bro up, we went to our 5th annual family tattoo day! Mom went, but declined the tattoo. One of these days though! :D
Pammi's.

My tattoo guy came in on his day off, because he said we're really cool! Yeah, he made some good tips!
We went back and had burgers, but I didn't get any pics. Sorry!

Tuesday, my niece and great niece from Maine flew down, completing the house full!
Dinner was some Asian spiced pork belly, served on steamed buns and cilantro-lime rice! Pammi pickled some red onion and jalapenos to go on them.

Wednesday was my great niece from Maine sweet 16 birthday! We started the day at the Carolina's Aviation Museum, here in Charlotte. They have the "Miracle On The Hudson" plane and some other really cool stuff!
After, we went to my favorite brewery. Sorry, none for the birthday girl! I have pics, but haven't uploaded them. Yet. I promise that I will!
My niece took her daughter to a fancy restaurant uptown, while we had pasta with grilled BSCB.

My dad and his wife were leaving Friday morning, so we had pulled pork Thursday night. After cake, I lit some coals and started the WSM via the MM. This is the next morning after 12 hours. It was seasoned with the last of the maple-chipotle rub I used on the ribs earlier.

Sooooo good!

Friday, we went to Hickory to check out a brew pub and a beer store. It WAS beercation, after all.
Here my sisters are at the beer store. It's a chain and there is one in St. Louis, where my older sister lives. St. Louis right, New Hampster left.

Saturday, a bunch of people left. Both sisters, my brother, my mom and my niece and her family from Columbia, MO.
So, Sunday, Pammi made homemade biscuits and sausage gravy for my niece from Maine and her daughter!
Repeat after me, soooo good!

They left yesterday evening, but due to mechanical problems and weather, they STILL aren't home yet!
Lord willing and good luck, they'll landing tonight about 11PM!
As good as it was to see everyone, it's very nice to have my small house back to ourselves!
Next year, Hallowell, Maine, as it's my brother's 50th!
Thanks for looking and putting up with my ramblings!

Very nice, Phil. Looks like a good time and great food was enjoyed by all. Thanks for sharing all of the pictures of your family Beercation. You guys did it up right!:)

Man Phil, you and the family know how to party. Beercation looks festive and I'm sure a good time was had by all. Food was off the chart as well. I'll bet you your're ready for a little R&R now!

Looks like another raging success with no shortage of fun and great grub. If I had to pick a fave, I think I'd go w/ the pork belly. Well done, sir!

Looks like a great time!! Lots of great food. I love Hollowell. We go there every year when we go to Maine to see the outla...err, inlaws. I always get a pint and a meal at the Liberal Cup.

What a fine family festival! Lotta great cooks and food. Really like the pork belly s'wiches.

All that cooking and no flame tats?

Phil, you sure know how to put a party together. Lots of fun and some awesome food. Great time was had by all, but its time for a little R & R for you and Pammi.
