Right in your back yard

Larry, I saw that last night. It is tempting but it is still a ways from me. 40 miles on winding hill country roads. And, I have stated a few times I am sworn off picking up new grills for a while. I might sit on this one for a week or two and offer $25. But I really need to move two or three of what I have before I get to excited about picking any new ones up. I may part out two or three of what I have and take the rest of the junk to the dump. That would help a lot. Remind me next Monday if you notice it still listed.
Thanks for the thought,
Bruce

I'd go grab it myself but it's like an hour and 45 to 2 hours for me. Unless it was another intact Wolf it's no bueano for me LOL

I hear ya larry. Two months ago, I would have drove down in the dark last night to get it. Heck, I paid $30 just for the stainless lid and trivet for the spare burner on my last Silver C. I just don't have the room right now.

Bruce,

I am trying to keep up my resolve, too:eek:. Three different interesting grills for sale, but no more room and way too many needing to be finished first:mad:!

Jon, post up links to your adds if you don't mind. I would love to see them.

Bruce,

Here's a not bad redhead. He already has dropped form $35 to $30

Here's the extended cart I posted before

I think this is a really nice Silver - my favorite of these in that it is the last design change with the better handle, hood and side tables. I confirmed with the seller that this IS a blue hood with pinstripes (I don't think I have ever seen another), and it has the black handle and knobs. Asking price of $100 is a little high, but he is open for offers:eek:! I thought it was a little funny that he stressed that this was NOT a Florida grill. I guess he has seen what happens to them here:rolleyes:

Thanks Jon. I will check them out. But I just saw this grill pop up on CL in my market. While this guy isn't flipping grills, his grill certainly looks nice for $150. I hope it sells fast and gets taken down. Looks quite clean with new enameled flavor bars and stamped cooking grates. Probably Weber. I don't know how the burners look, but the rest of the grill looks really nice.

REDHEAD: He would probably take $20 or $25 and that would be a good deal if the frame and Z brackets are in good shape. It has the slide for the swing table.

SILVER C: Another good deal. Might be able to get him down a little yet and if the frame and Z brackets are good, it is a good deal. It almost looks like they have RCPlanebuyer grates in that thing. They don't look like the cheap 7mm grates.

Sliver B with cabinet: Aside from the blue hood and double swing tables, I just don't care for this style. Its a a cabinet grill and for rehab purposes, probably a big headache. Those SS doors are always stained bad as well and virtually impossible to clean. But, I do love the hood.

I saw that ad and honestly thought it was your ad

:) Nope, not mine. It looks like the guy bought new grates, new flavo bars, new warming rack and a new cover just to sell it. He probably paid over $100 for that stuff alone.

Bruce,

The redhead is probably the most tempting to me in terms of price and appearing solid. While not close-by, it is at least within a realistic drive. He mentions a second set of stainless grates(?)

The extended cart Genesis 3000 has apparent frame issues. In looking at it closer you can see that some kind of metal has been applied to apparently reinforce the upper frame. That knocks it down on my list, but still you get a side burner, hopefully salvageable flip table and tray hardware AND those grates. In looking closely at them, I am all the more convinced they are re-purposed old Summit grates. You can see that there are actually THREE separate pieces. That is fine with me. I agree the bars look high-grade thick and closely spaced. Overall, they look like they could be cleaned up well. If this wasn't so far away, I would still probably give in and get it for the latter reasons.

On the blue Silver, it is so interesting how everything is in the eyes of the beholder:eek:. I like the original Genesis with wood slats the best. But, my second favorite would be this one. I think that Weber finally perfected the modernization of the original Genesis with these models - newer style hood and handle, nicer control panel and knobs (especially in black), and the most practical flip up side tables Weber ever made (in my opinion, of course). The Silvers before this are totally fine, but they look to me a little more like they couldn't figure out if they were staying classic or going modern. Like I said just in the eyes of this beholder...

I agree that even on these earlier Genesis grills, the closed-in cart is certain trouble (even if as he says this is an "Iowa" grill). All you have to do, though, is eliminate the doors, sides, back and bottom and add two horizontal support frame tubes in their place (or a wire rack that affixes to the vertical frame pieces to give it similar support. They sold these Silvers that way, too, but I think the special ones like this with double trays and a fancy hood probably always had the cabinet. I like the blue a lot, but I can't keep anymore grills and this one doesn't have potential for restore and flip. I will have to pass.

I cannot believe the amount of grills most very nice you two find in a week or month. You could not find that many grills that were interesting in ATL in six months.

Right now I have a few older ones in my neighborhood but the prices are too high to make any money on them:
- Nice red one for $120. Not restored but clean:
https://dallas.craigslist.org/ndf/app/d/weber-natural-gas-three/6589593137.html

- Gold C. Grates are shot and some minor pieces missing. Bbut it looks solid. Price has been dropped from $150 to $90:
https://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/hsh/d/weber-genesis-gold/6584620583.html

- Silver B. Comes with the old style basket rotisserie and the smoker box over the cross over burner. But $200 is way to steep:

But the worst is this. Not a gasser but a performer. Seller has the ad up since almost a week but not provided any contact details. Originally he wanted $75 and has now dropped the price to $25. Probably because he was not getting any responses. I have informed CL serveral times. No change. Now I have added my own post. See if he or she responds.

Stefan say your post in the charcoal section on the performer. That thing is a steal at $25.00 and in Green which I love, mine is Brick Red.

That nat gas one for $125.00 looks to me like a great deal if your buying it for yourself, new flavorizer bars and grates and it looks really clean. Just fire it up I think that one is a steal also.

That gold Stefan in ATL would be gone in one day, think you guys in other parts of the country are a little spoiled. The prices are much higher here especially chasing the older stuff like the 1000's only 2 have showed up in the last 5 months both were gone in a week or days. Since I am old school it's the old ones with the colored lids that attracts me, nothing wrong with the stainless I just like the older grills.

For flipping purposes, I have yet to pay over $50 for a grill. When you pay $100 and up, everything has to pretty clean and serviceable to make it worth while.

Larry, that grill is still on CL. If it is still there when I get back from my camping trip this weekend, I think I will put in a $25 low ball offer and see what he says. It's a pretty time of the year up here for a nice drive in the hill country.

Stefan,
To me that Silver B is fairly priced for an end user. It isn’t a true restoration but is competing for the same potential buyers. Definitely not a candidate for flipping but I hope the seller does well. We alll have to hope there are buyers out there willing to forgo a new chinajiunk grill to instead buy a nice older Weber!
