Hey all,

Just stumbled upon this on Craigslist....

https://seattle.craigslist.org/tac/for/d/weber-summit-425-built-in/6559553024.html

I never knew that the Summits came in red also. This is probably a classic, brand new never used...seems like it's worth the asking price don't you think?

That's like a barn find! Absolutely worth the asking price, but you could probably get it for 3 or 4 hondos cash in hand ...

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!! Now THAT is something really cool. I am not an expert on the really old Summits by any stretch, but I would never have guessed that they made a red one, let alone a built-in option. I am glad it is FAR AWAY from me so I don't even begin to let my mind start wandering:eek:!

Somebody is going to get a real treasure.

Haha, if you want I could bargain and try to get it for a lower price and just paypal me the money and I'll Fedex/UPS it to you. You could always tell your wife, "But it was free so what could I do"?

She would say, "I am glad you like it so much, because you are going to be sleeping in it:eek:!"

Damn I would like that. Not because it's red (but that is nice) but because it could be the heart transplant my 450 needs. The grill head is the same and on that model the grill head simply lifts off the cart. I have to say I have cooked on and own a lot of grills and have never seen one cook better than my Summit 450. Although once I have my Wolf properly hooked up to a properly sized gas line and regulator and finally decide if I will drop the heady sum of $$$ for RC's grates or go with OEM style bare cast iron I was able to find at a REALLY solid price, than that may replace the Summit as the best appliance. Though I have to say the Summit is far easier to maintain and find "some"parts for

I think if the guy is willing to sit on it, he will get his asking price. He may have to market it outside his local area however. But, like Larry said, it would probably replace a lot of built in grills that are currently going bad right now or it would be a great new built in setup for $500

I am hoping that the Red Summit ends up in the grip of a forum member! It won't be me but I have my fingers crossed for anybody on here!

I know the one for sale is for a built in setup but does anyone know of a cart compatible for the grill? If it is easily available then I may consider putting in an offer for it.

Other than the actual cart for the Summit, I believe the early ~2000-01 Genesis Platinum used the same cart. These are also pretty hard to find. I doubt you will be able to buy OEM parts (see below) but maybe you can get lucky and find one on CL/OfferUp. There was one not too far from me a while back, but they held out for a very high amount and apparently got it.

Hmmm....would this one work? It's a gold, not platinum.

Sam, I would opine that if that amount is not totally disposable I personally wouldn't do it. There are more costs later. However if you are in a good financial situation I would jump on that like a prom date. You can always introduce her to Mom later :)

Yah, not sure how I'm gonna get past the wifey on that one anyway so I probably won't be going for it.

No Genesis cart will work with that grill head. The Summit head does not attach to the cart the Genesis head does. The top of the Summit cart is (IIRC) 2" diameter pipe (tubing) (round). The Genesis requires square tubing due to how they attach to the frame
