I know Weber sold island additions as a separate add-on for this Genesis grill. Here is a link for there version:

Whether he started with that and made some mods or whether he hacked apart a second Genesis cabinet to make this is hard to say. These grills are dropping in price in our area, so if you could pick up a second one with salvageable doors, it doesn't seem like it would be out of the question to fabricate a simple bottom, back and side piece.

The Genesis Island Cabinetry was available starting in 2011 and came in black enamel or stainless steel. It's shown on page 60 of the 2011 Weber Product Catalog.
Thanks guys. I'm aware of the out-of-the-box setup of the add on. I was wondering if anybody put it together in this compact mode without the extra workspaces on the sides. I really like the extra storage only below with it's original footprint.
