DigiQ Pit Viper Fan Lack of Hinged Damper

All,
I am building a ATC system using an Inkbird ITC106RL and a pit viper fan with Weber adapter on my 22 WSM. My understanding is there is no damper that closes off the air passage once the fan shuts down, only the sliding damper that controls output air into the pit. For people with the BBQ Guru DigiQ unit, does the heat back draft once the fan stops? How is this controlled? :wsm22:

Hi Rob.... I use the Pit Viper fans. You're right, there will be back draft once the fan shuts off unless you close the damper manually. Even then there is a small passage of air in and out of the cooker. They provide a silicone "Kill Plug" that you insert into the Weber adapter after removing the fan. I use that when I saving the charcoal for another cook. Good luck with your build.
