Rare Cardinal (bird)

I shot this guy through double panes of glass and open mini blinds, had to do a little tuning to the pics

I thought he was part albino, but friend, and TVWBB member Gary H, suggested bird leucism, he was right.

I figured with the weather, he was just partially frozen. :p Very cool capture.

Great pictures, especially considering the conditions. My through-the-window photos never come out nearly as good as yours.

My dad had for decades been feeding the birds in the winter time and loved to watch them at the feeder. He almost always had a pair of cardinals that would be in the area but never more than one pair. Two years ago on Thanksgiving we had a visit from one female and six males all at the same time. I've never seen so many cardinals at one time.

Within the same time window we had a blue jay, a downy woodpecker, and a red-headed woodpecker. There were also a few goldfinches showed up. None of these birds are unusual here, but to have them all show up at basically the same time and to feed peacefully alongside each other was definitely rare.

Here's a shot showing the cardinals. Sorry about how blurry it is. The windows were rather dirty and it was raining.

Thanks for the nice comments!

Jay,
That's probably more glare and rain than dirt.
I cropped and tuned your pic a bit using Google Photos software.
Nice little flock of cardinals.

Nice pics. Over the past few years noticed several sparrows in my back yard with yellow, red, orange, pinkish red, blue and green feathers.

(You know) my wife told me I was crazy until I pointed them out to her.

Sounds like painted buntings, but pretty far north of their range.
I've never seen one in person.
