I have. 22.5” Weber Performer Charcoal Grill. I bought the iGrill 2 for it. The question I have is where to put the Ambient probe if you using a drip pan and charcoal baskets on both sides of the drip pan? Help!

General rule (*IMO*) is the probe should be at the grill where the meat is. You want to isolate it from any meat, foil, pans or anything that might alter the reading.

I have never used an iGrill 2, but use a Stoker, and they sell a small clip that will clip to the grill tines and hold the probe. They provide a fairly small probe.

They sell them for $5, so it might be worth a try to see if you could make it work with the iGrill 2 probe.

BTW, I've also seen Aaron Franklin use an onion cut in half, just stick the probe in at the height you want with the tip poking out of the onion to read the temp.

EDIT: I just found this which ChrisA is using a potato.
