Master-Touch....assembly trouble with ash ring....am I an idiot ?

Have a tough time getting my Master-Touch assembled properly as per the instructions.


The ring doesn't secure in any way that I've tried.


It doesn't snap into place.

I bend the three tabs inward and slide them behind the leg holders and nothing. It just hangs there.

Are there supposed to be holes where the tabs on the ring fit into ?


This is frustrating and looks so dang simple in the instructions.



Anyone had this trouble ???
 
I had a similar problem and when I realized I was overthinking it, I went inside had another cup of coffee and when I went back out, it snapped right in but, I never bent any of the tabs.
 
If it's similar to a older OTG you can use SS self tapping screws or SS hose clamps , SS zip- ties.

I'll give it another go.

This thing just wouldn't snap into place no matter what.
 
I have and OTS I converted to and OTG with the ashpan. I remember it being a pain, but it's been a LONG time since I did it. Good luck!
 
Are there slots at the base of the leg sockets to accept the tongue on the clips? I don't have a current MT so I may not be familiar with the attachment method. I have a 1991 Performer...they don't have the slots, so I purchased a new ring, cut the small tongue off the tabs and uses SS screws to mount to the leg sockets. Thanks TVWBB for that info, worked great.
