Well more rain on the way today so I moved the mini under the covered patio to smoke the short ribs I was supposed to do yesterday, but couldn’t because of the wind and rain. Have to get them cooked or I’ll loss them.

Made up a recipe that Chris Allingham posted for root beer BBQ sauce which I thought was interesting.
Also made up a recipe of my version of Cliff Bartlett’s root beer baked beans which is one of our favorite’s

No the ribs weren’t soaked in a root beer marinade. Just put some Weber’s salt free steak seasoning on them.

Smoke was olive wood.

The mini ran at a steady 270 for the whole cook.
Done in 4 ½ hours.

Ribs were fantastic, melt in your mouth tender. The olive wood gave a lite sweeet flavor.
The BBQ sauce was good but needs a little tweaking, I think #5 sauce has spoiled me for any other sauce.
Of course Cliffs root beer beans are always super good.

We were to stuffed to do the root beer float so maybe tonight

Have a great week

Man.... those ribs & beans look so good! & using genuine A&W root beer, too.

I should dig out my old Cookin' Cajun cookbook. IIRC.... two thirds of the recipes in it used soda pop in the recipes.

Too bad you didn't have a frosty mug handy for an A&W beverage to go with that plate! :) Looks fantastic, Rich! There's just something about short ribs after a long slow cook (smoke, braise, sous vide or other) that is amazing...... Nice job, sir!
