Just wondering

My new 18 inch wsm has a small v cut at the top of the middle section where the seam is. I don't think it's meant for a probe as the lid does not have a v cut out. What do you think this is for?

Is it a used but new to you? Reason I'm asking is because alot of folks have put those v cuts in there wsm

That looks like a defect from the factory. It probably won't hurt a thing, but if you contact Weber Customer Service, they will likely replace it, and then you'll have two

Personally, I'd widen and deepen it for probe wires.
The notch, to me, is way better than the silicone plug thing.

I wouldn't call that a defect. It's so small it's not causing a leak or anything. I'd use it as is and never think about it again.

Not that it matters, but is there a crease below it? The reflection appears distorted there where your feet and legs are.
