Congratulations to Nate Frost for winning Throwdown #39: Pizza Battle Redux with his "Three Pizzas in KettlePizza" entry.

It's now time to reveal our next Throwdown topic:

Grilled Fruit!

Show us your best grilled fruit entry...we're entering the season for great peaches, apricots, and plums, and there's always pineapple, bananas, apples, etc. Your entry could be a simple grilled peach with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, or something more complicated like a cobbler or fruit skewer or banana boat. Did you know you can put grilled watermelon chunks in a salad? Let your imagination run wild!

The throwdown will run until Sunday, July 9 at 11:59pm Pacific Time.

P.S. Remember, don't be intimidated! This isn't a barbecue competition, it's just for fun and friendship! Try it, you'll like it! And make sure to see the simple throwdown rules.

P.S.S. Remember, only 10 photos for each entry! Photo collages (multiple photos grouped into a single file) are OK, but each photo in the collage counts towards the 10 photo limit.
 
Since I found this site, I have worked my way through just about every thread in the Throwdowns. They're always awesome. Grilled fruit is an entirely foreign area for me, so this will be fun. Time to go start thinking. Thanks Chris!!!
 
crazy idea! immediately flooded and stumped for ideas LOL.I guess i could wrap my neighbor in bacon and throw him on the grill.. he's about as fruity as it gets LOL

About halfway through this throwdown and no entries. I knew this was a risky topic, but I didn't know folks around here didn't eat fruit! Just throw some on the grill and see what happens!

I could kick myself for not taking a photo of the final presentation plate. ...but anyway, there you have it, I served with ice cream. I highly recommend this.

Grilled Bananas

with Dulce de Leche Ice Cream & Cinnamon-Orange Sauce.

2 tsp orange zest, 1 1/2 cups fresh squeezed OJ (used more than one orange), 1 tbs granulated sugar, 1 tbs light brown sugar & 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon.

Mixed & simmered, stirred frequently for 15 minutes until reduced to sauce consistency. Toasted some sliced almonds.

Got out the ice cream.

Some ripe bananas - cut in half & again lengthwise. Brushed the cut side with unsalted butter & placed face down on the grill over medium-high heat. Grilled about 2 -3 minutes. Flipped them & cooked until the skin began to pull away.

Removed the skins... put the bananas in a bowl.. topped with the Dulce de Leche, toasted almonds & drizzled with the cinnamon-orange syrup.

Super!

Have enough of the syrup & ice cream left to do it again tomorrow.

Hey... we need some help here! It's a cool challenge - def got me doing something different.
 
Grilled Pineapple Boat

With Marshmallow Cheesecake Filling And Toasted Coconut

The ingredients:
Pineapple - Sectioned lengthwise, removed the core, grilled, then cubed and sprinkled with cinnamon sugar.
Cheesecake Filling - 8 oz pkg of cream cheese mixed with 7 oz jar of marshmallow cream and 1/2 tsp vanilla.
Coconut - Toasted in cast iron skillet.
