How to date a Weber Ranch Kettle?

So I am trying to figure out exactly how old my Ranch Kettle is. Its definitely 3rd generation, but I can't seem to find a letter code anywhere on it (as the vent is black). The handles don't look exactly like the new dark gray Weber handles and there is no writing on them (but they look original).

Anyone know?

Are,the vents black from crud or were they painted by a previous owner?
You might try wetting down a sponge with warm water and some Dawn dish soap and let it sit on the vent for half a day, then see,if the black comes off. Other than that, I haven't a clue, sorry.
(Disclaimer) I am never the guy who gets to use that old chestnut first!
Some other smart alek beats me to it.
The problem is once you date it, you will have to meet the parents, all that stuff!
Back to the corner, I know!

Yep. Top vent is black as it's enameled steel just like the bowl and lid. Vents on bottom have the serial#/date code.
