Steaks on a Genesis II.

Found some good angus ribeyes today. Decided they'd make a nice dinner and I really wanted to test out how good of a sear I can get on the Genesis II gasser.

I rinsed and trimmed the steaks. Not much trimming was needed. These were pretty decent cuts. Pat dry. Applied extra virgin olive oil, and some pepper steak rub. Let that set in for about 45 minutes.

Heated up the Genesis II e-310. All 3 burners on high. Let it get to where the lid therm says 500. Gave it another 10 minutes to make sure the grates were good and hot.

Rubbed a little canola oil on the grates where I was going to place the steaks. Closed the lid for 30 seconds to make sure the grates heated up again. Then put the steaks on right above the right burner, and lid back down.

About 30 seconds before I want to give a 45-ish degree turn, so rubbed canola oil on the grates above the far left burner. Lid down for 30 seconds, then moved them to that burner with a bit of a rotate.

Repeated this process for the flip and the next rotate. Kept going back and forth between the two end burners, applying some canola to the place I'm moving to about 30 seconds before the move.

The results were pretty good for a gasser with no sear or IR station. Steaks came out medium to medium rare. All my timings were 3 minutes, so 6 minutes per side. Steaks were melt in your mouth tender. Not a bad job for a gasser.
