    Smoke Day Hangout/Chat

    We had a similar thread back in 2014 that seemed to go over well, so let's do it again!

    This is a place to chat during your cook, post pics of the progress and process if you like, tell us what's on your menu, or simply talk about your weather.

    Smoke cooking can get lonely and boring, so kick off your shoes, pour a cold one, and join in!


    Last but not least, let's not forget the real reason for this holiday.
    If not for the sacrifices made by so many, we would not have the freedom to enjoy life as we know it today.
    Cooking a steak to well done is like killing the bovine twice.

    Eight pound butt going on my little WSM in the morning.
    Just me and my wife Jo Anne tomorrow, so it's pretty easy to please that crowd.
    Sides planned are baked beans, coleslaw, corn, and deviled eggs.
    She has her monthly bunco game tonight, so I'm grilling meatballs for my dinner.
    Off the fire and into the sauce. Sandwich pic later, if you're lucky.

    I texted with Jim Lampe earlier, he's been prepping today for 20 or so guests tomorrow.
    Said he's getting up at 3 AM to get a brisket going.

    I've got the wsm loaded up with kbb and pecan chunks. My chimney is prepped. I've got a 15 lb Aspen Ridge prime brisket trimmed and seasoned waiting in the fridge. I'm probably going to start it at 4a.m.

    I'm so bummed that we have to be gone tomorrow. My smoke day is going to have to be on Sunday when my daughter and her boyfriend are coming over. Have fun everyone!
