I spotted Shake 'n Bake on sale and realized it has been years since we've had it on pork chops or chicken.
Thought it would work well for kettle fired chicken.
Set up with the dog dish full of lit Kb.

Went to check on it later and had to use an umbrella.

Later I was treated to a nice rainbow, actually a double if you look top right.

Really good eats, a nice change from the normal breading I use for KFC.

Another evening treat was a pileated woodpecker landing in a distant tree, sadly the zoom lens on my camera was 135mm on the long end.

Ah, shake 'n' bake! That brings back memories! Will have to introduce my kids to that phenomenon from my childhood! One of the side benefits to all the bread making that's been going on here, is that everyone should have a good stock of homemade bread crumbs to mix up with some butter and put on their asparagus....that looks yummy! :)

Looks like your AF decided you wanted those branches in front of the woodpecker to be your subject. :) I get that a lot when I'm shooting swim meets, and I get a really nice shot of a drop of water, but my daughter's face is out of focus! :) I need to bring my camera when I'm sitting outside "tending" the smoker......some decent bird shots to be had here in suburbia!

Ah yes, brings back memories of days of kids, working and easy weekday oven dinners that the whole family liked.

Barb and I have been using Louisiana crispy fish fry (Walmart) it's fairly neutral in taste. We mix it with whatever seasoning we want such as kickin chicken, Montreal steak seasoning, Webers salt free chicken or any thing like that for a different flavor. Holds up well to grilling.
Even use it on boneless pork loin chops, really keeps them moist.

Like the shots of the bird, you sure do have a nice variety of birds where you live.

Man, I haven't even thought about Shake N Bake for years. Looks mighty good on that plate Bob. After my recent patch of pictures, I can't even think about depth of field. My head hurts.

Bob that shake and bake brings back fond memories. Back before we were grilling we used to make them all the time for the kids. Looks like they're a natch for the grill. And of course the end of the rainbow was the pot o' gold on your grill!

to 2 or 3 more of this phine looking bird parts dare young man. Looks great!
 
Thanks, Bob. I'll have to consider this the next time I grill chicken.

Shake & Bake. Reminds of the Nixon years of long gas lines and reducing the home thermostat a bit to conserve energy. Bob Hope referred to shake & bake as something the wife did while cooking in a not-so-warm home, lol.
 
Not many things I love more than chicken thighs, though my favorite still are my grandmother's who would prepare them in an electric skillet with a healthy amount of Crisco. Delicious.
