Grille size on WSM 47CM/18.5 Inch

Hi everyone, Can someone please confirm for me the actual sizes of the cooking grilles on the 47cm/18.5 inch WSM. I have been told they are different sizes but haven't confirmed. Cant decide what to buy out of the WSM 47cm/18.5 inch or Pro Q Excel Elite. See website.

The top cooking grate measures 17.5" in diameter (44.45 cm). The bottom cooking grate measures 17" in diameter (43.18 cm).

Thanks mate. Do you think the WSM 18inch (47cm) is big enough to do ribs. How many can you cook on them. How do you think the Weber compares to http://proqsmokers.com.au/products/3...xcel-20-elite/

You cannot really do ribs on the 18 inch WSM laying them flat. You could squeeze in 3 racks on each grate (top and bottom), but the air flow would be compromised and the outer edges would cook too quickly. As for how much you can cook on a WSM 18 incher, I've done 9 racks of baby backs by cutting them in half and standing them up in rib racks. Might be able to do a few more, but 9 is pretty easy. If you want a lot of room, get the 22 inch WSM.
