I did not buy any.

about 5 in the meat case, all were shaped the same.
NOT the unique "tri" shape.

Sometimes those peppercorn marinades can be pretty spicy. That and the shape would have me walking away too.

The only place around here we find tri tip is either TJs or Earth Fare. We prefer the Earth Fare ones. Always moist and juicy!

I would have walked away also Jim. We did an indirect TT (prime) (Costco) on the Performer last night and were very happy with it. Always seems better when we do it ourselves.

$5.98 a LBS is kinda pricy (these days) We're paying $2.99 a LBS, and marinade in this for the day. Wonderful

Our Sam's Club sells tri-tip but they are always sliced them into strips. I just ask the butcher to give me a few whole ones and they trim them up for me as well.

$10.99/lb at my local Wegman's. I will admit, it is very good tri tip though. We can get it for $5.99 at Trader Joes, but to me the quality isn't very good. The ones I've bought there were always tough and chewy. The ones at Wegs are CAB with nice marbling and great flavor.

I might have tried one just to see. In that packaging it does not look like a normal tri tip. The Costco near me does not carry them any longer.
