Slick Ice

That's what the old Germans around here call it, and that's what we got Friday afternoon.
It turned Jo's 1/2 hour drive home into 5 1/2 hours.
She arrived home on the back of an ATV driven by a good Samaritan after about a 3/4 mile cold ride from where she slid off the road.

Old Man Winter caught our area off guard, and road crews couldn't keep up.
There were numerous accidents, and a couple of fatalities.
Jo has been having bad luck lately, her 4WD Explorer is in the shop from a non-weather related accident week before last
She was driving her brother's front wheel drive Dodge Journey, and it was no match for our curvy, hilly back roads.
Thankfully she was not injured, although very shaken by the ordeal.
She told me a wheel was off the ground, but I was still shocked when we checked on it yesterday morning.

Glad Jo is OK Bob. We call it "black ice" in Washington state because you just can't see it on the asphalt roads.

Stay safe - this winter looks like it's going to be bumpy!

That's one hell of a drop off, lucky it stayed on the road, sheesh!
Glad no one got hurt.

Glad she's OK.

We had a lot of ice here yesterday as well. A 25 car pile up on the DC beltway and worse stuff a little further north, just south of Baltimore. 31 and freezing yesterday morning. 62 and cloudy when I got up this morning.

So glad to hear Jo is okay. That could have been a real disaster. Even here in AZ when we walked the pup this morning it was 19 outside, very cold for us this time of the year.

Glad to hear all is well except pride, but it is hard to drive on untreated ice roads, they are the worst. I would much rather do 2 feet of snow any day. But it always seems that we get rain, then sleet, and then snow the first couple times each year.

Thanks for the kind words everyone!

Her Explorer, we call Ruby, came out of the body shop yesterday from her earlier accident, and she's all smiles.
