Smoked Hamburger recipe ( Venison )

High, new WSM 18.5 owner here. I am a decent cook, and experienced but not perfect griller and smoker.
I used my new smoker first time this week smoking chicken thighs for a chicken and vegetables soup, and the smoker is extremely nice. The results were amazing, according to my wife.

When I bring up this website, the title picture is that of smoked hamburgers. I would like to make those, but we use venison in most of our cooking. Do any of you have any experience smoking ground venison hamburgers? I could put strips of bacon on each pattie, and may do that because I will be smoking loaded jalapeño peppers at the same time, and they will be bacon wrapped. Any thoughts? Thanks, Jim
