WSM, water in the bowl or something else?

Seems like a lot of different ideas regarding water in the pan, sand, pizza stones and of course water.

What's your go to set up? How many chunks? Lighting method?

My go to is water. I mean, it IS a water smoker. The water helps a lot with regulating a steady temperature and with humidity, which is good for lots of things ... like the smoke ring. I fill the ring about three-quarters with briquettes. Then I pour a full chimney of lit briquettes on top. Then I fill the water pan about three quarters. I usually start with 4 or 6 big chunks of woods.
 
Thanks for the reply Jamie, If I don't win one of your books tomorrow I'll pick one up on Amazon. The grill skills are getting where I want them but I need to mix things up a bit.
