Long time i did not visit site and did not post, miss it here and glad to be back.

I bought a 7 kg fresh air chilled turkey from Costco today and used by date on it is April 1st. I read on net though that fresh turkeys should not be stored in fridge for more than 3 days so should i trust date on turkey?

Also, i was not able to find a smaller bird, all sold out :(.
And I do not have that many people to eat it so what would you guys suggest? Is it best to cook it all then freeze half? I read on net that it is not good to freeze raw fresh air chilled turkeys.

Is there any method I can do to extend its raw fridge shelf life before cooking? Would brining it or marinating it help with this?

And lastly, what would you recommend as best brine recipe and cooking method?
I have access to a big gas bbq and was thinking to cook indirect between 250 and 300F, what do you guys advice?

Thanks
