Do you need a Handle for the front of the 18.5" Lid when adding a hinge?

Can someone please tell me if it is necessary to add a handle to the front of your 18.5" lid, when using a hinge?

Does it make it easier to control the lifting?

If yes, do you know where to find one (not the all metal garage door type) like Webers that can be bolted to the lid? Weber tells me that they do not sell their handles for the aftermarket. Any advice? Thanks.
 
I recently installed a hinge on my 18.5" WSM and I don't see any reason to add a handle to the front of the lid. It's easy enough to open using the handle on top.
 
It certainly won't hurt to have one, but no they're not necessary. In fact, using the front handle makes it a bit more difficult to smoothly "disengage" the latch so you can close it back down after checking on the food. I've found the using the top handle always allows for the easiest "up and outwards" motion to unlock it.
