Poof - I let the smoke out

I cant believe I did this - I reversed the polarity on my battery connection to the HeaterMeter.

There was the tiniest wisp of smoke that came from one of the components.

It still appears to work fine -

Any ideas what component I may have damages?

Everything is reverse current protected besides the fan driver circuit. You can check the 47uF capacitor to see if it is a short now, and the only other component is the big MOSFET and the BS170 right by it, but if the blower still works you know those are fine.

I did something similar when jury rigging up an 18v battery connection. Smelled something smoke like, but it still runs fine.

When searching for an alternate power supply my Uncle found an old Bose PS that was 12VDC, we plugged it in and I caught the smell right away and unplugged the PS. Turns out it was Tip Negative... what an oddball power supply!
At any rate, I was surprised the HM powered up just fine when proper power was supplied, I was sure it was gonna be toast after I smelled it cooking, but it lived through that punishment just fine... So you're probably OK. Like Bryan said, if your blower is blowing you should be fine....
