I am to the point of attaching lcd to pcb. Do yo tippicaly allow the LCD board to come in contact with the pcb board? Or do you allow it to "float" away from pcb? Thanks

The LCD should end up flush against the back of the HeaterMeter PCB. The black plastic bits from the pin header are removed so it can get right up against the PCB like this:


EDIT: Well I guess you can't see, but they are PCB to PCB.
 
Thanks Bryan. Had a bit of a hiccup this afternoon. Setup pins on lcd, removed plastic spacers and soldered lcd to pcbon wrong side��. Was feeling pretty good about solder job til i got to installing toggle switch....took a bit of work to seperate boards. Buddy was able to pull pins out. But solder was holding boards together. Wonder about shorting from solder wicking between mating pads.
