Hi,
Infrared sear burners are pretty expensive, and I'm curious whether anybody's tried making one out of an infrared heater, like one of these:
This model is rated at 4.2 KW (14000 BTU). Would a sear burner really be this simple, or is there something special about them to withstand fat and other juices dripping on them?
BTW, I'm not planning to do this, as I prefer cooking a steak to cooking myself
-Mark.
