Today I am one of the judges for the 4th Annual Backyard Bash to raise money for the Gurley (AL) Rec Center. One of the teams is cooking on two 22" WSM(s) using ATC(s) which is good to see. Several have Kettles and one team has a Rancher. There are a bunch of teams with the gravity feed chest style cookers. For being a non KCBS sanctioned event there's a pretty good showing of some pretty fancy rigs. (This is an AL BBQ Trail event)

I'm lookin forward to some good BBQ!

It was a lot of fun ...but it got me thinkin about "One Bite BBQ". By the time the last example is tasted, the judge has a full belly. To pace yourself, you judge the entry off one bite. Think about all the travel time, hard work, loss of sleep, cleaning, prepping, cooking, expense, etc that went into entering one box per category and it comes down to one bite.

After the judging was done, there was a lot of BBQ with one bite taken thrown in the trash.
